Dana Amir was born in Haifa in 1966 to a Polish mother and a Bulgarian father, both teachers. After completing her military service, she studied psychology and philosophy. Amir’s first volume of poetry won the Ron Adler Prize, and her fourth is about to appear. At time of press, Amir was awarded a Bahat Prize by Haifa University for her most original academic book, The Lyrical Dimension of Mental Space
Amir, a clinical psychologist, is a trainee at the Psychoanalytic Institute in Jerusalem. Married and a mother of two, she practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, teaches at Haifa University, and devotes some of her time to writing literary criticism
